President’s Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February, and this year it falls on February 19, 2006. To celebrate President’s Day, I’ve collected some of my favorite leadership quotes from US Presidents.

The leaders of this country have had some extraordinary obstacles to overcome and they’ve had to rise to meet many challenges. They have left little bits of wisdom along the way I hope you’ll find interesting.

So here are some of my favorite leadership quotes from US Presidents:

1. “Patience and perseverance have a magical affect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” – John Quincy Adams

2. “Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

3. “I not only use all the brains that I have, but all that I can borrow.” – Woodrow Wilson

4. “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.” – Thomas Jefferson

5. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – John F. Kennedy

6. “No man is above the law and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man’s permission when we require him to obey it. Obedience to the law is demanded as a right; not asked as a favor.” – Theodore Roosevelt

7. “Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as a heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere. Destroy this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors.” – Abraham Lincoln

8. “I hope I shall possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” – George Washington

9. “The truth is that all men having power ought to be mistrusted.” – James Madison

10. ” ‘Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.” – Abraham Lincoln

11. “Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” – Thomas Jefferson

12. “My observation is that whenever one person is found adequate to the discharge of a duty… it is worse executed by two persons, and scarcely done at all if three or more are employed therein.” – George Washington

13. “There are two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live.” – John Adams

14. “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” – John F. Kennedy

15. “You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.” – Woodrow Wilson

Happy President’s Day!
male perfect body

Prior to the Democratic National Convention, Senator Barrack Obama’s campaign had spent nearly half a billion dollars to win the democratic nomination. Then as he was nominated officially, he was nearly tied in a statistical heat with Senator John McCain. The John McCain expenditures to get nominated were very miniscule compared to Barack Obama’s expenditures. Indeed, it was not even close.

Senator Barrack Obama’s campaign even out spent Hilary Clinton’s campaign by nearly 3:1 when it was all said and done, in fact, it was the largest amount of money spent on a Presidential Campaign in US History. Actually, it was the most money every spent by any candidate in the World to become elected, not even considering just being nominated.

The ability of the Barrack Obama campaign’s public relations teams, advertising folks and campaign managers was incredible. Their fundraising machine was unbelievable and the help from other groups to promote him, was also very welcomed. Of course, what if Senator Barrack Obama is not elected, what if Senator John McCain wins the election? It is possible that by then Senator Barrack Obama’s campaign could have spent 1 Billion Dollars.

Now statistically, spending that level of money to get elected means his probability of succeeding is very high. And it does not appear that Senator John McCain can match his stardom or ability to raise money, so he will most likely win, unless the campaign pushes too hard, spends too much and folks get tired of all the television ads and there is some sort of backlash.
About the Author: woo themes templates

The Indian political system has come a long way since it got independence in 1947. Forming a constitution in itself was a great achievement and the first step to development. Though India is still developing, but it can be said that she has come a long way since independence.

She is standing tall on her feet after being a crippled colony for over a century by building the constitution, forming central and state governments and building the whole concept of administration and economy starting from zilch, which is a great achievement. Sadly though, the current state of politics has nullified the effect of these initial steps and the people of India itself abhor the administration phenomena altogether.

From Indians standing united against the British rule we have come to a point where we are now nothing more than some communist standing only for grouped sections of society. It wouldn’t be wrong if I replace the ‘way’ in the above sentence with ‘wrong way’.

Indian politics is now not only synonymic with corruption, red tape-ism, and opportunist leaders, there is more to it. There are leaders still, who do their bit religiously and not for the benefit of some sect. The government today stands on support of many hands, that for some is a disadvantage, and in some cases it is so, but in others, doesn’t it simply means joining hands for the betterment of the country?

The Indian politics has attained such a pessimist’s attitude lately that it has become hard for the Indian public to believe in this republic and her leaders!

Indians just don’t see anything positive in the steps taken and reforms adopted. Maybe it’s just a bitter effect of the bad experiences in the past! But I think that Indians should not give up hope. We are equally responsible for the current state of India as much as the leaders.

We don’t act in responsible ways.

We don’t vote.

We don’t protest against things they think are wrong.

We don’t behave responsibly and litter around anywhere that they possibly can.

We don’t treat public property properly!

If I go on in this fashion, the list would be endless but the punch that I want to make here is not the complaining that we all can do, but the effort.

Lets all stand tall to remove all the loopholes!!
sweet 16 favors

For my French class I need to write why it is more acceptable to talk about political issues in France than in the U.S. Why would that be? I was thinking maybe something along the lines that there are many political parties in France compared to the U.S. and this might influence how strongly people are associated with a ‘left’ or ‘right’ party.

When we are non political we have forfeited sovereignty and citizenship. The forfeiture need not be permanent. It has always been our choice. I am not talking about the great party pseudo politics here. I am talking grassroots, trouble shooting politics.

An ignorant, poorly educated population has no resonance with the concept of the sovereign citizen. The sovereign is the one with original power and authority agreed upon by the people who will bear the burden of support. This makes the population totally unsuited to republican government. That is, a government where sovereign authority, responsibility, accountability and social benefit is delegated to honorable and trustworthy servants, properly compensated for their public service, restricted authority and duties. The citizen sovereign never delegates all her authority or responsibility. A wise citizen sovereign never delegates more than half their authority, retaining the controlling interest in the republican contract. She maintains an observer, supervisory relationship with the hired servants. When your servants are raising hell cross town, or out of town, you are liable for all costs and damages they create. To let them do as they please is madness. The political name for this madness is democracy.

In a democracy, no one has any authority but that which is assumed by a majority. In a democracy, no one has responsibility or accountability. It is the ultimate don’t blame me government. The master- servant relationship is inverted. Imagine you are rich, have many servants and a few enemies who seek to end or restrict your life. You buy the finest weapons and train your servants to competence in their use. When your servants are seen dining with your enemy, you pay it no mind because you have work to do in order to see your trusted servants are paid whatever they demand of you. You are loyal whether your servants are or not. One evening at dinner, one of your servants puts a bullet in your head. This is their right. You created a democracy. You had no more right or authority than any one of your servants. It is no different with a nation. Those who choose to rule do so with the constant threat of force against any co servant who steps out of line or threatens to undermine the assumed authority.

This is what our servants want for us and the rest of the world. This is what they pretend we want, knowing it really doesn’t matter what we want until we are told, just as Madison Avenue does on TV and all major media. We Americans are kept masters, exploited by the servants we hire. We rule – so long as we do as we are told. When we are taught this behavior from preschool age, we don’t become the captains of our own ships with our eighteenth or twenty first birthday. We are already far more interested in the benefits of adulthood than the responsibilities.

We can say no to this utterly disgusting political absurdity any time we like after we are aware of it. We can become the captains of our ships and the masters of our nation and societiy instead of pretending to be slaves on the great corporate plantation, as our hired servants do so well. Any one of us can make some difference if we do no more than call our sorry situation to others who share it. A small number of us can inspire a large number. To recover from our slavery addiction a few things are necessary. The first, is to fill in the gaps in our educations, deliberately created and maintained by our corporate masters. Those gaps are: 1.) The nature of money, it’s primary use and the many corruptions of its purpose. When we learn this, we no longer ask, where does all the money go? Instead we ask, what is the best use we can put it to for ourselves, the ones we love and the society with which we interact?

Educational gap number two is law, it’s foundations, legitimate uses and common abuses. When we don’t know the source and relative social value of any law, we are unfit to govern and supervise legislative bodies. We are unfit to sit on juries and weigh the instructions of legal professionals. We are unfit to test and question any political candidtate running for legislative office. Ignorance of the law is no excuse after formal education because from graduation day it is willful and self imposed. If you are not motivated to correct these two major deficiencies, you are an unaccountable, irresponsible pseudo citizen, unfit for civil society, who should be shunned or deported by civil society. In a pseudo democracy it does not matter and you have the option to be a good corporate servant for the rest of your life. And when the hard times overtake the great plantation you will be highly expendable.

Times change. There was a time when we could look at Supreme Court Justices with great respect and admiration. They were people who had a high standard of right action, a commitment to the Constitution of the United States, with no bias favoring specific political parties or agendas. They supported ethical behavior and the ideals of democracy.

Not anymore. The Supreme Court has been corrupted by inferior elements.

As we wave goodbye to democracy and accept the fact that powerful corporations loyal to stockholders and money above integrity, liberty, fairness and decency are running our country, we are left with the sad fact that there is no one we can turn to for help.

Our country’s leaders, Democrats and Republicans alike, are damaged goods. They are a collective body of wealthy liars and thieves with little interest in patriotism, democracy or justice except when they can use the words and symbols of these ideals to fool us into thinking they care about us.

As we’ve watched the descent of our country into immorality and decay, most of us seem to think it’s one party’s fault or the other. It’s not. It’s our fault.

It’s our fault for tolerating the lies. It’s our fault for not even knowing when we’re being lied to.

It’s our fault for placing people we have decided to trust for emotional reasons (because they have seduced us with their rhetoric and passion) on pedestals, and taking everything they say at face value as the gospel truth without caring to look at the evidence and discover the truth for ourselves.

It’s our fault for putting our faith in these people and institutions, accepting their inconsistencies, hypocrisies and outright lies and propaganda simply because we trust them, despite their being no real basis for the trust.

It’s out fault for not insisting that they be held accountable for the things they say and do.

It’s our fault for choosing to stop thinking for ourselves and allowing them to think for us.

Bottom line: The politicians and corporations have not sold us out. We have sold ourselves out. We have betrayed ourselves. We have failed this country. As a result of the choices we’ve made to give up our responsibility as caretakers of our liberty and democracy, we are now on a sinking ship.

So what can we learn from the Supreme Court? That it’s time to wake up, start thinking for ourselves, and begin a new policy of only electing people who tell the truth.

As soon as we catch anybody in a lie during their election campaigning, we decide they won’t get our vote and we let them know it.

It doesn’t matter who they are, how much they’ve accomplished, or how wonderful their reputation is, because truth be told: If someone lies to us one time we cannot trust that they won’t lie to us again. If we can’t trust them, we shouldn’t elect them to an office that is going to dramatically impact our lives and affect the well-being of our families.

If we do this, if we reject every political candidate we catch in a lie, big or small, over time we will most likely replace just about everyone currently holding office with honest people who say what they mean and will do what they say.

Martin Luther King once said, “A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan.”

He also said, “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”

We are now officially the oppressed, living in a pseudo-democracy that has frightening fascist elements growing stronger everyday, as the recent Supreme Court decision demonstrates.

Only we, the people, can stem this tide over time.

Martin Luther King made reference to a dream that people “not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

We must now apply this concept to the politicians we elect to public office, in the sense that we not judge them by the facade they have constructed about themselves but by the integrity of their being.

If we catch anybody in a lie on the campaign trail, they’re out. Case closed. On to the next guy until the politicians get the message that nothing less than honesty and ethical behavior will be tolerated.

There can be no other way. The lies must stop if this democracy is to survive and prosper.

So what can the Supreme Court and Martin Luther King teach us about relationships?

When we are in the courtship phase of a relationship, if we catch the one we’re courting in a lie, we bail out immediately, rather than look the other way and get entrenched in a relationship which will one day either fail and/or cause us great emotional suffering because the foundation of the relationship was flawed from the start.

When we have the courage to walk away from shiny objects that offer great promise but are actually composed of paper mache covered by glossy paint, we will spare ourselves a great deal of grief and give ourselves the opportunity to find real value and meaning in this very strange world we now inhabit.
About the Author: plan a wedding
