You Lost at the Ballotbox So you turn to Bullets, Democracy FAIL?

By admin ~ January 7th, 2012 @ 9:41 pm
There was an Election. One man won by a majority of the votes cast. Those who lost vow revenge. They turn to outbursts, acts of vandalism (using a Swastika) and threats of armed violence.

Does this mean Democracy failed?

Also if the armed militants do attempt to seize power from a democratically elected government, should democratic nations across the world come together to eliminate the anti-democratic militants?

You know, its funny you accuse Republicans of using scare tactics.

It’s just American voters expressing outrage to their representatives.

I think it was Hillary Clinton who said it best when she said, “I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.”

A Democracy puts power in the people’s hands. If the people are unhappy, and a significant amount stand up and revolt, that is part of Democracy. A painful part, but part of it no less.

Whether the acts of revolution get called outbursts, vandalism, or patriotic all depend on what side you stand on and who wins.

Should other countries join in to destroy those who would protest? No. The right to protest and fight against things you don’t agree with is a key element to Democracy. Those who wish to put an end to those demonstrations are even more anti-democratic.

History is written by those who win a conflict. If there is a vote, and the majority don’t like the results, then the vote was not accurate and should be overturned. If the revolt is by the minority, then the majority fights back and wins yet again.
