What are your thought on regarding this statement?

The idea of cultural property has become a political trump card.” from “Antiquities, The World Is Your Homeland” by Edward Rothstein”

I understand the need to protect cultural property but utilitizing it as a trump card in the US to gain popular vote is just wrong.

Please share your opinions because I am really torn on this topic and need to assess other viewpoints before making a stand.

Laws surrounding cultural property rights usually violate constitutional rights. For one they are race based legislative matters, which is clearly outlined as being unconstitutional. Only problem is, all this needs to be proven in court. And chances are these cases will have to go to superior courts to find these issues out.

If that is not enough, there are many laws surrounding cultural issues that were written so vaguely, not even the best legal minds in the country can tell you how to abide by them. Many have civil and criminal elements. Yet nobody knows how to enforce or even describe them. Their bogus laws designed to appease a select few entities and make a few politicians look good to certain cultural elements. Nothing more, nothing less.
