The moral good is the enforcement of order, stability, etc. However, this end is through means that are difficult to justify in other ways; they require abandonment of certain types of morality to suit the situation.
yes, machiavelli was utilitarian and a single-minded thinker. the most good for the greatest number, for the people governed by the prince. he morally wanted them to live happily although his views are often seen as harsh.
